Unique in the world: Bay Area hotel on a mountain
About
Us
The intimate warmth of a rustic mountain inn...In a spectacular
setting of mountain scenery, towering redwood forests and famous ocean beaches.
The Mountain Home Inn, an eagle's
nest set amoungst the rolling slopes of Mt. Tamalpais
overlooking the quaint village of Mill Valley 1000 feet
below and at your feet, the continuous ever-changing scenery
of the San Francisco Bay... All this, yet the inn's only
a 25 minute scenic drive from the Golden Gate Bridge...
Truly a world away from everyday
cares.

History
At the turn of the last century, a trip to Tamalpais was the
No. 1 getaway for San Franciscans.
Before the Golden Gate Bridge was built, the mountain visitors made their way to Marin by way of ferries.
These boats ran day and night, 60 times a day.

a grand travelogue and a thoughtful look at reclaiming independence"
and the London Times said was "A deliciously romantic story,
made even more captivating by the idea that someone actually
experienced it"we discovered the narrator took her
lover on a truly romantic getaway to...our inn.
