You can look down at the clear, blue waters of San Francisco Bay. You can watch the fog land softly along the hills and houses below. You can hike the rolling ridgeline of Mt. Tamalpais. You can sleep in the cool silence of sweet mountain air.
You can do all of this and more from your perch at the Mountain Home Inn. It’s a place to lay down your cares about the world. A place where nature shares itself with home-made lemonade and real log fires. And a place your heart may never forget.
The inn offers ten rustic guestrooms, a sun-drenched terrace, a room for small gatherings, and a bar featuring select regional wines and beers.

Many people find San Francisco Bay and its environs among the most beautiful harbors in the world. From high on Mt. Tam, as it is affectionately called, you can make your own decision.
Like an eagle’s nest the inn sits atop a Mt. Tamalpais ridge with a view as far as you can see. Our sun-drenched terrace overlooks the village of Mill Valley 900 feet below — and the Bay beyond.
We are bordered by the beautiful Muir Woods and Mt. Tamalpais parks. During high season we are often just above the cool thick summer clouds and below the sun-beating peaks. Bends on the trails provides ever changing vistas and geography. With an ideal intersection of weather and views, it’s no wonder many famous Mt. Tam trails begin or end at our inn.
Staying active is easy when the trails start right across the street.
Whether you’re looking for a scenic stroll or a more challenging adventure, we’re happy to provide maps and personalized recommendations.
Hike to the top of Mt. Tamalpais for panoramic views, or head down to the redwoods of Muir Woods or the sandy shores of Stinson Beach—all just steps away.
